![]() ![]() A collaboration with ideas from Wayne Houchin, Michael Ammar, Kenneth Peh, and Jonathan Bayme. A card is chosen. In this case, it's the Six of Diamonds. The Four of Diamonds is also used. You clearly place the Six of Diamonds in the spectator's closed hands (in a sandwich manner), holding on to the Four of Diamonds. As you slowly shake the Four, the pips -- that is, the diamonds -- are seen to visually multiply and move across the card to form the Six of Diamonds. The spectator opens their hands to find the Four of Diamonds, and all is handed out for complete examination. Code:

the only bad things about these tricks is that you cant let them examine, and ppl know its Gimmicked, i mean seriously think about it. usually u dont let the ppl touch the gimmick, like in the superman coin bend, or raven, but for this one u have to let them see it

![]() Now this article is to consider Wayne Houchin's Distortion on Theory 11 compared to other moving point gimmicks that were produced in the past. I will not go in detail over moving point gimmicks that are no longer commercialy available but I may mention the most common ones as I go. The moving points gimmicks are also made by Magichall, Soe Magic and New Era Moving Pips, by Tomo Maeda are available in various magic shops. New Era Moving Pips by Tomo Maeda is explained in 5x5 magic from Japan by Richard Kauffman. Notably the 4 of diamonds to 6 of diamonds gimmick is sold at 20$ on MJM. The same gimmick is sold out at penguin magic and is priced 15$. There exists also a gimmick going from the 5 of spades to the 4 of spades which is also made by Seo Magic. It is sold on MJM magic at 14.55$. The advantage of buying from those online shops, as for many other online shops is the free shipping they offer as long as you buy over a certain amount in $ Penguin magic asks an order over 20$ usd. MJM Magic for USA and Canada shipping of up to 4 pounds and over $15.00 is free. If Distortion is not exactly the same gimmick as the 4/6 diamonds moving points its very close to it. So the gimmick alone is well worth 15 to 20$. Considering that theory 11 on top of the gimmick gives an instructional video its a very good price for this. Thus considering the product and the gimmick of good quality, there is however a downside to buying a moving point gimmick from theory 11 : the shipping costs. Depending on where you live and the priority you give to your shipping this can add up to a lot of money. You however have the choice between a redbacked or bluebacked bicycle gimmick. Other shops don't give you that kind of choice. Also, what is the QUALITY of the gimmick? Does it run smoothly? Will it break easily? If it breaks can you repair it? Does the gimmick have two 4 diamonds indexies or one 4 of diamonds and one 6 of diamonds? If Distortion's moving point gimmick is of higher quality then it is worth the buy even more. Some people who used the gimmick wrote that it was a little fragile but that the DVD explains it so you won't break it. The gimmick is hand-made, it is fragile, don't be an oaf! ![]() Homemade gimmicks, at least the first ones will be of lower quality. It is known that some moving point gimmicks available in magic shops are not of good quality. The one cyril used was made by magichall. Here's the link : http://themagichall.com/product_detail.php?pid=489 The price on the page is 35$. I saw somewhere someone selling his used gimmick for 7.50$ Some say the magichall version requires a lot of practice to deceptively move the pips. Some moving point systems back in the 70's actually had a 9 turn to a 5. (Cool!) Some moving point gimmicks work automatically. New Era Moving Pips is attached to a the card box. (I dont like the fact of relying to a box and its a prediction... its not "Their" card...) When buying Distortion on Theory 11 there are shipping costs. Here are your MINIMAL shipping expenses by country : All prices initially in USD rates of change from nov 21st 2007 midday liverates on xe.com United States of America : 4.95$ on a 4 to 7 days wait. Canada 7.95$ (Pariety) on First Class Mail International. Mexico 7.95$ (88 pesos) on FCMI If you live in Dresden in Germany your shipping will be 8.95$ on First Class Mail International. If you like in Kyoto in Japan your shipping will be 8.50$ (922 yen) FCMI. Alternatives : You could make your own moving pips gimmick. (AOMK) You could buy Alpha Cards which gradually change the card from a four of spades to a four of hearts without the use of mechanical apparatus. The Alpha Cards are heat senstitive cards. The are sold 13.5$ on penguin and 19.35$ on MJM with their respective 10% rebates for returning customers. Conclusion : Theory 11 has a solid product at a competitive price. Alpha cards are an intersting alternative depending on what type of magic you are trying to create. Depending on where you live it might not be as economical to buy from Theory 11 since they do not have free shipping. Buying Distortion will consist of $32.95 USD or more depending on where you ship to because of supplement shipping prices and perticular taxes. If you like/would like the explanations by Wayne Houchin and want to encourage such endeavours in the future then you know what to do. More information will be added here if new information becomes available. ![]() For further research : http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/v...5636&forum=218 http://themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt...09&57&start=30
