Default Believe - Joel Paschall

http://media.theory11.com/1172-Believe---First-Glimpse

Looks alright - a torn piece from a card changes. Now, what I reckon is that the torn piece changes, then is shown to perfectly match the card it was torn from.

If that's the case, then it could be done the same way as 'Bottled Up' by Penguin. The change looks good though. Wonder if you can do the same with a whole playing card.

Just speculating.

Joel Paschall's Believe :: First Glimpse

Posted by Wayne Houchin at 11:40 pm April 28, 2008

It was 1999 - I had just finished a week long run at The Blue Room Theater in Chico, CA when I received a phone call. The man on the other end of the line told me that he was also a magician and he wanted to meet for coffee.

We met up at a coffee shop downtown and for the next hour and a half he showed me a style of magic that I had never experienced before. He did things with a pack of cards that I didn't even know was possible. He had just finished producing a video called "Show Off" starring Brian Tudor - which was to become a groundbreaking video that helped launch the modern cardistry and flourish movement - needless to say - this man changed the way that I viewed magic and introduced me to a side of the art that I hadn't yet discovered.

His name was Joel Pashcall and over the years he has become a mentor and a friend. He is currently the resident magician at Gerry Griffin's California Magic Dinner Theater in Martinez, CA. His cardwork is incredible and it is a pleasure to give you the first glimpse of Joel's first project with us: "Believe."

Check out the video HERE.

This seems pretty over-hyped. Seriously, from what the video shows, all it is a colour change of a corner card. And it says "It opened up a whole new realm of magic". Wow. Apparently partial card colour changes are a whole new realm.

I don't think that I'll be following this trick too closely...

Wonder if the colour change can be done with a coin?

Default this looks good

I am gonna buy this when it comes out. It probably involves a gimmick. What do you think it is.

In my opinion ,it seems like Digital Dissolve ,i mean the effect ,maybe it's another version of coin/card color change

Hmm..im not to sure on how its done, or whether I even like it or not. But, the gimmick could just be a gaffed card that has one magnetic corner. Then you could do it easily with a pk ring or even a raven. Its probably not done this way, but it would work though.

Full preview of BeLieVe: http://media.theory11.com/1195-BeLie...e-Full-Preview

I think I got it down. Spectator selects and signes a card. The card is controlled to the top. Perform a double lift. Rip out a corner from both cards. Place the corner on the table face up and squared. Flip over the double and place the card on the table. When you wave your hand, press on the card. The moisture on your hand will hold the corner. Reveal the face down card.

I guess is pretty similar to how Justin describes it.
You simply just lay the two corners as one down on the table and then use the moist-remove to get rid of the top one.

The trailer it self almost reveals the techniques of this routine.

Only thing interested me is the additional bonus features.

That's exactly what I was thinking as well. Pretty simple, actually.
If this is correct, it's getting hyped up way too much by Theory 11...
