Okay, hey all of you. Joseph here
Today I'm going to make a review of the Arcane Decks by *********** First Finish: It's finish is phenomenal. But I think it's the same UV-500 Air Flow Finish but they said its UV-500 Air Flow Finish: Aurora. I think i can see the difference. It's thinner. I give it a 9/10 for the finish Design: It's Design is Perfect! Smokes has smaller pixels which make it look like real smoke. The smoke Comes out of the boarders of the court Cards. It rocks. the white and black decks have differences in their backs. The back design in the white has the same scroll design but Glyphs invade the whole background. While the black. It's shadowy like shadowmasters and has a Wing on its back. I give it a 10/10 Box Design: Scrollwork Goes all around the box! RAWR. It's soo Cool 10/10 I highly recommend this deck. It's great for flourishers and magicians alike. Pick up your very own deck here... Last edited by Alex Hess; 12-28-2009 at 11:24 AM. |

I have a concern, you said the smoke comes out of the borders and whatnot. Are you able to perform any magic or effects with this? In my experience, having white-edged/bordered cards is the only way to perform double lifts from my understanding.
Do you notice nay drawbacks using these in effects that make them less powerful then your basics? |

I've been pratcing many things with the black deck (got it a few days after release) and it has yet to fade like the black tiger/ghost/shadow decks did on the edges.

I have a deck of each and I almost through away my black ones.
@ Alex- The smoke does not take away from a DL, and you could probably take all but one of the court cards out, (aces stay) and you could use the card as a locator card. But t he black deck is too...Black. There I said it. I know that seems weird to say, but it's true. I showed these in person to a fellow Magician here in my area and I told him to look at them and he said the same thing. They are boring when faned, too black and dark that you can't see the details, and the red looks TOO bright. The whites are the polar opposite. I LOVE these cards. I the symbols in the back give the deck a "gray" feel and design is great. Not a single detail is lost and the red seems more "blood" red. The finish is great. The stock is nice and thin and snappy. We should get Lyle in here and ask him how his decks are holding up. -Jacob

Got a black deck in my porper in my pocket as we speak on my way to work. I like the white better, but I have always been a black deck fan. The white look MUCH cooler in fans and the art "pops" much better. The smoke isn't far enough into the borders to interrupt any kind of magic. It just looks freaking cool.
That all said, I am still loyal as ever to my S&M, but my 2nds right now are my arcanes. The Arcanes have a great finish on a great stock. I haven't used them so often that I know how they feel forward and backward (I could identify a deck of S&M by touch) but I do think they are among my favorite decks. L

I agree to an extent. The black ones are a bit lousy in detail, but the white ones due to those symbles, can be a burden at times because it is grey and not white on the backs. So if you're doing a trick that requires you to hold to cards together and the edges peek out horribly. A problem that doesn't happen to often, but when it does, is way to noticable with the white deck.

It's not noticable on the white decks when you flash. Because the Back design is all around.

I've noticed that E decks tend to be a bit thicker than others. It is for this reason that I love my Ho's. Is the new stock any thinner? Is the deck less bulky than say, a black ghost deck? I find that holding bulky decks can feel a little awkward and make flourishing difficult.

I've had my Arcanes for a few days now and I must say, I love them. The stock feels great in my hands, the finish is impeccable, the deck isn't ponderous or ungainly and it feels like I'm holding water.
I was surprised to find that I actually like the black deck more. They decided to go with grey on the clubs and spades instead of white. The White on black that other black E decks have had comes across as a sort of neon eyesore. The grey is much more elegant and makes the red court cards look like they are from a dream. I highly recommend these cards to any magician looking for a new and elegant deck.

I really liked the look of the arcanes at first, but i feel like they are doing the same thing over and over again. producing jet black cards with unusual jokers. I do like them, its just they are expensive for a deck of cards.
I hope with their next deck they are able to... perhaps venture into different colors and designs - and not rely so much on the safe side of designing. Of course they risk going against their dark image. well see! |

Figured I'd post a comment. I just got my order in today of a black porper clip and the sample pack black and white deck. I placed the order on sunday/monday. Man that was quick.
The cards are a bit tight in the black porper clip but I got it because I usually use bikes (usually...HAHA I've been at this only a few months). You get one advertisement (that will decrease the deck size a bit) and what could be considered a GAFF card (double back...another decrease in size if you don't need it) so that it will fit in the regular porper clip albeit still a bit tight. I'm COMPLETELY unused to the edge of this card. That's just me having used nothing but red/blue bikes since I started. The stock is very nice and it moves very well in hand. If there was anything I'd change on the white deck it would be to mirror the black deck backing only obviously like a negative. The white deck has a speckled blotchy pattern that I wish it didn't have. The Black deck doesn't have that pattern and includes wings coming off the top and bottom which I think would have looked really nice on the white deck. On the black deck, the face cards don't pop out as much as they do on the white deck. I wish they were....brighter. White on black would have been nice, or at least F0F0F0 on 000000 (hehehe). My black deck did have a defect, I'm currently waiting to see how *********** handles that. The porper clip fits my bikes perfectly. -MM |

Hey Guys.
Alex has a nice thread opened in the Ellusionsit Section. Talk about it over there and let us know what you think about these cards? Are you going to buy some? What do you think about the design? Which color you going to get? Which color do you hate off the bat? Make sure you check out the blog post too! There is a picture of the original sketch on there. |
