I will be reviewing some of the moves taught on the on Demand section..
These will be: The Spread Pass with Chad Nelson The Cherry Control with Ricky Smith Fan.2.C with R.Paul Wilson and The Truffle Shuffle by Derek DelGaudio First up: The Spread Pass This move is used to control a selection to the top of the pack and is very deceptive.. Quality: Awesome quality video as you would expect from D&D.. 10/10 Teaching: Chad Nelson teaches his own little subtleties while performing and the general move itself. The teaching is great and did not require me to re-watch the video although it was somewhat fast...... The teaching gets a 9/10 as it may be a little fast for some.. Angles: As all passes, the spread pass does have some angles and are manageable as long as you know what these angles are.. Difficulty: This is one of the easiest Passes to accomplish.. It will NOT take years to master like the the Classic Pass but it will take some practice to perfect, I would give it about a month or so of some SOLID practice to master this.. 5/10 for difficulty Motivation: The way that Chad teaches makes every move in this pass motivated.. nothing seems out of place and you may sometimes find that you fool yourself.. The Spread Pass is a move that you will use everyday and practice everyday, it is such a great move and it is well taught.. and for the price of $4.00 it is a great deal.. Highly recommended This gets a 9/10, no a 10/10 in my books.. I am totally pleased with it ![]() I forgot to mention that this can also be used as a color change ![]() /// Next up: The Cherry Control by Ricky Smith This is yet another sleight used to control a card to the top of the pack in the swift motion of a fan. This is my favorite control and I use it everyday Quality: As usual with D&D, awesome quality 10/10 Teaching: Ricky Smith does a great job with teaching although it isn't the best.. I do believe more detail could have been put into the teaching of the move.. The move is still VERY learnable but the teaching gets a 7.5/10 Angles: Virtually invisible BUT, this move does have slight angles but with a little practice, you won't need to worry about them.. Difficulty: This will take some time to perfect but is relatively easy to grasp the gist of it, and once you understand the basics, it's up to you to polish it and perfect it.. Once polished, you will LOVE this move It gets a 6/10 for difficulty Motivation: Everything seems normal as you fan, you may explain that their selection is buried roughly __ number of cards down, so this move seems motivated and ordinary.. But you know what really happens ![]() Ricky Smith also teaches a few other ways to get into the Cherry Control so you do not always repeat the same move.. He is also HILARIOUS, parts of the video almost had me crying, and the "Bonus" effect is awesome! All in All, this is a GREAT move that is an awesome addition to your arsenal.. Although the teaching is a bit lacking, this still gets a solid 9/10 from me.. /// Third up is: Fan.2.C by R.Paul Wilson This is an effect where the performer shows a horrible poker hand, but with a wave over the cards, you end up with a royal flush.. This effect is seen in the movie Shade.. This looks absolutely amazing! Quality: Must is say it again? Awesome as usual Teaching: This is taught well and in good detail.. Paul Wilson goes over making the "gimmick" in great detail and he also teaches the basic effect along with 4 other effects also taught very well.. 8/10 Method: Although very smart, I was pretty disappointed at first with the gimmick involved.. but after seeing what's capable with this, I saw the better side of this gimmick and was quite pleased with it... so this gets another 8/10 Overall, Great concept and great teaching.. Although something I wouldn't use a bunch, it is something worth purchasing.. I give Fan.2.C an 8/10 /// Last but definitely not least: The Truffle Shuffle By Derek DelGaudio This is an extremely deceptive false shuffle if performed well.. Quality: Again.. Amazing ![]() Teaching: Probably the best teaching of all these videos.. Derek leaves no stone unturned with his teaching and is extremely thorough, he goes through all the subtleties and moves used in the Truffle Shuffle.. He also shows the move a good 10 times so you can see how it should look.. This gets a 10/10 for teaching Difficulty: This is a tough move to execute, but if practiced enough and executed properly, is totally worth it.. This will take a LONG time and a LOT of practice to perfect, but I believe the final result is well worth the time spent... This gets an 8/10 for difficulty.. This is a great move that, although difficult is totally awesome! Derek does an amazing job of teaching and for $12 is well worth its price... Invest the time needed to perfect this move ! The Truffle Shuffle gets a 10/10 from me This concludes my review for 4 techniques and effects from D&D's On Demand Section found in their store.. Check it out!

Good reviews, nice and in-depth! I may need to check out this Cherry Control, it sounds like it's a keeper.

This isn't a review - more a followup to the topic.
I have Bill Goodwin's Triad (also available at the D&D On Demand Store). Mr. Goodwin teaches you some old card principles - one that he shows you I have never heard of before and I'm am grateful for purchasing the effect. He will keep you interested for sure. If you like sandwich effects, scoop this one up! Link to video performance: http://store.dananddave.com/triad.html Last edited by kartatrik; 04-16-2009 at 08:49 AM. |
