Houdini Trick Tutorial

Ok, this is going to be my first thread explaining a trick. If you need any help at all, just leave a comment. OK. Lets get started!

EFFECT -

A spectator freely chooses a card and it is places back in the deck. The cards are shuffled and a rubber band is then placed around the deck. The magician shows the bottom card and askes he/she if it is their card. He then lifts the top card and asks if it is their card. (Both of the answeres were no). The deck is flipped and the cards are cut sideways with the rubber band still attached. THe cards are banged on the table and the chosen card comes flying out!

i couldn't quite understand the last part after the double lift do you remove the cards from the rubber band or keep it on it
