Default Exo.Rant-Review of "Breach" by Daniel Madison

Heya!

Another piece from the brilliant mind of one of my favourite artists... Daniel Madison...

Exo.Rant-Review of "Breach" by Daniel Madison

I'm not big fan of Card Through Window (CTW) effects, let alone Card Through Glass Table effects. However, when I saw the trailer for Breach, I was lost for words.
Okay... Stop nailing me for the fact that I always comment on demos. Hahaha...
Truth is... If a performer is good, he'll be able to show his full skill on a demo without flashing. On this note, I was truly befuddled by DM's "Breach". I had my ideas, and so did others... But "Breach" was never as simple or as complicated as described.

"Breach" was initially released as a stand-alone trick and included a gimmicked card. That was the give-away for some... "It's magnetic and DRAT IT, I'll be needing a PK ring...". Truth is, you don't need to be the proud owner of a shiny Vortex/Wizard G2/Incarnum 2 PK Ring to do "Breach".
Currently, "Breach" is published in Daniel Madison's new PDF booklet "Identity". However, there are differences which I'll go through later...

Tudor-esque Explanation of "Four"...
Smooth = Slow.. But anyhow... Signed card returned to deck... Deck is spread face down on glass table. As deck is collected, signed card 'breaches' the table and falls to the floor. Displayed and given to spectator for examination...

Diving in depth: "Breach" broken apart...
I'll be working my review around "Identity" for the benefit of all, who can access the material on Exo.

The making of the gimmicked card is straightforward. Before, this would probably have been cheaper if you had bought the PDF from DM (esp. if you live in the UK). I, for one, didn't... So don't start poking fingers at me.
You'll be needing to get some materials, and these aren't easy to come by. DM suggests searching on eBay... eBay has everything really... So you might as well search it up.

Handling of the trick is taught extremely well, for a book... Lots of diagrams are included to make sure you keep on track. "Breach" will take practice... This isn't something you'll be wanting to do till you're in full control of the cards and the gimmick. Daniel Madison does not fail to tell you why the effect is so much better than other 'timed' principles... The card 'breaches' WHENEVER YOU WANT it to 'breach'! You are in complete control!

One thing to note... This effect is for a card through glass table... This is a BIG thing. The transparency of the table is what sells the trick... It doesn't have as big as an effect with other solid tables. Also, seeing that you've probably figured out that some form of magnet is involved, thick tables won't work. Period. You'll be looking like a fool if the card falls half-way before you even build up the effect. Testing would be best before you start pulling out your cards for the trick! XD
But, Daniel Madison does note that the trick still has an effect if you do it through a solid table... But the visual perception of the 'breach' is better with glass. I will echo his statement about metal tables... It's pretty obvious... DON'T DO IT WITH METALLIC TABLES... =.="

One other thing... "Identity" only comes with the GIMMICKED version of the trick. Since many weren't able to get "Breach" before it was taken off his site, he'll be featuring his UNGIMMICKED version on a later DVD.
The UNGIMMICKED version is quite a pickle to do... It'll take practice, but the good thing is that you'll learn how to 'breach' the card UP as well as DOWN. Also, various other effects with a PK ring are mentioned in the "Breach" PDF. Also, though Daniel Madison hates the idea, "Breach" can be performed through a spectator's T-shirt, if you're lacking a glass table. But then... Would you really be so undignifiedas to ask a kind, young woman to lift her shirt for you? He wouldn't... Neither would I... So DON'T!

Bare-Bones Bottom Line...
"Breach" is quite a versatile trick which Daniel Madison leaves the performer to develop his own methods for doing it. The gimmick itself might come in EXTREMELY handy in a variety of situations... Only limited by your imagination!
On Exo, it's only 1 link for "Identity" (containing the gimmicked version). However, the post cost is justifiably high.. 20... The reason being that you're not only getting "Breach" but a boat-load of the best of his other gimmicked effects.
I'm biased, so I'm telling you to get it now, esp. if you're a cardworker.
Alright, on that note, the real "PDF" is also available in the VIP section... But that requires you to have VIP status. I'm sure most of the VIPs have enjoyed and (hopefully) valued the extra information within the PDF... As I have done.
How do I have it?... I perform magic too...
(And no, I didn't hack for it!)

Hope you liked the review!
Feel free to comment or 'spar'...
