Default Exo.Rant-Review of "Four" by Huron Low

Heya!

Now, I usually get tired doing reviews for the same person... But Huron Low is going to have to be a special case...

Exo.Rant-Review of "Four" by Huron Low...

After seeing the demo for "Fire in the Hole" (FitH) a while back, I also found out about the "T&R Project" by Huron Low. This was actually a combination of both FitH and "Four". When watching the demo for "Four", I was pretty startled by some of the restoration effects I saw... However, my desire for "Four" wasn't as strong as that for FitH... So I went with getting hold of FitH first...

I have been in possession of "Four" for quite a while now, since my last review of FitH. The reason why I COULDN'T do a review of "Four" quite as quickly was because of a slight mis-mashed video, which I've found (to my dismay from none other than Exo) that it is the original way the video is presented. I usually don't give criticism at the start of reviews (unless the trick really does, literally, suck...)... But, honestly, Huron Low really wanted you to WORK to learn these tricks. And, by work, I mean going through the video and prising out the right clips for each trick.
This was a nightmare for me!... But, for the ExoMagic community, I managed to do a time frame split for each of the tricks. This can be found in the following thread:

Hopefully, it will make your life slightly easier!

Tudor-esque Explanation of "Four"...
Four tricks... Essentially, cards get restored in multiple ways (T&R style, Coin-bite style, Cut-out style). Gimmicks required for each of the tricks.

Diving in depth: "Four" broken apart...
Besides the fact that you need to scan through diff. parts of the video to learn each of the 4 tricks, they aren't exactly a walk in the park to do either. But, that said, don't expect crazy harder stuff!
The tricks in "Four" are made easy because of the gimmicks required... These are all home-made and are taught quite well by Huron (if you can find them throughout the video). You'll be spending most of the time learning the subtleties for each trick (if you haven't already wasted enough time trying to scan through the video) and the mechanics behind the gimmicks. All the gimmicks are quite ingenious, save one... Which could've been achieved from "Color Fusion" by Eric James.

Handling of the tricks are dependent on which ones you choose to do. "Making Ends Meet" is the trick that is closest to the T&R plot and handling. The rest, I've never seen before... And I doubt you have either. These other 3 tricks are the ones I'm going to be learning and showing to a magician friend of mine who 'knows everything' (no, seriously... he actually STUDIES magic!).

They are all, suprisingly, FUN to do... This isn't the same old boring schnizel-frizel-I-have-to-keep-practising-this-boring-sleight-my-hands-pain sort of stuff. You'll actually enjoy watching your progress because the gimmicks make them really fun to do! On top of this, Huron gives various ideas on each of the tricks... There's something for everyone. I'm being dead-honest... (Unless you absolutely hate destroying cards for better reactions!)

Bare-Bones Bottom Line...
These are a fun 4 tricks to learn... And I'm POSITIVE that you'll 'fall in love' with one of them, if not all! They are the best twists on the original T&R plot that I've ever seen... This stuff is worth learning and doing. Huron somehow has a knack for making 'miracle'-like magic which is fun for both the spectator and performer. "Four" is truly a collection of his best.
(On that note... How I wish Exo would release 0630 by Huron's friend, Daren Yeow... Please? Is it good enough to do? Is "Four" better?)
The only criticism... Who on EARTH would try to 'protect' their tricks by mashing them together into a weird combination of different views and ideas and ARGH... HURON WHY??? WHY???
On Exo, quite a painful 11 files to obtain... RapidS only, unfortunately... And make sure you take note of the password. A mere post cost of 14, though my little time frame thingy will cost you 25.
Get it.

Hope you liked the review!
Feel free to comment or 'spar'...
