Heya!
Exo.Rant-Review of "Color Fusion" by Eric James Spectator: "WHAT? WTF?? WHAT?? WHAT??????" Reality Check 1... He/She has just witnessed a miracle... No, seriously... Something pretty crazy... Spectator: "WHY THE HECK IS IT RED... How could it POSSIBLY be red?" Reality Check 2... He/She (from the magician's point of view) has witnessed a colour change from something to red... For this kinda reaction, it was probably visual too... Spectator: "I SIGNED IT TOO... HOW... WHATTT?? (faints)..." Reality Check 3... He/She has seen the power of "Color Fusion" by Eric James... ![]() This trick is highly under-rated... HIGHLY under-rated. You have to see it to believe it.. A signed card is visually changed, from one colour to another (limited by your imagination... ). Not only that... The spectator has one piece of the card in the original colour... As a comparison and memory of the incredible feat that has just occured.So... What's all the hype? Well, let's go through the procedure a little... A card is signed on the face... Folded into quarters. A piece is torn off, to be kept by the spectator... A receipt, if you would allow. The remaining 3/4 piece is shown, back facing the spectator. Slowly, quarter by quarter, the back changes colour... melting from red to blue or blue to red or whatever you want really. You hand the 3/4 back to the spectator... They compare the pieces and the signed face... They proceed to have a REACTION. You, the magician, who just performed this miracle... Smile. Strip it all down... Quick-fire answers here... Yes, a gimmick is required. And yes, this gimmick can be home-made. Can't be bothered? Yes, Eric James also sells 'colour fusion' refills if you're in desperate need to reduce the weight of your wallet. For me, the manufacture of the gimmick took a while to get used to... But once you're rolling, you'll become much faster in making them. The advantage of making them yourself is that you can do a change from whatever back colour/design you want... I do mine with Tally-Ho backs. The refills only come as Bicycle Backs. Looks like Eric really wanted people to get this... After seeing the effect, I don't see why anyone wouldn't (Unless you're not a fan of the handling...). One gimmick is used per performance... You want your spectator to remember you, right? (Let's try a bit of mentalism here... Picture him/her... Standing before you... Wondering when your next date will... Okay, end of mentalism!) The handling takes some getting used to... You will need practice. But then, everything needs practice, so this trick is no exception. Two variations are taught, including a bonus variation which was Eric James' original performance of the trick. The basic variation involves the 'fusion' within the spectators hands. The other variation is the more advanced version and is the piece-by-piece fusion. The advanced version is the one you want to aim for, though the basic variation is much safer. Bare-Bones Bottom Line... A nice trick to add, if you have the time to make the gimmick again and again (or if you have the $$ to buy the refills). It's well-worth the practice in my opinion... Spectators will be stunned if you can handle the advanced version (which I still haven't had the guts to practice, let alone pull-off in real life). It's something worth putting on your to-buy/to-download list. Pamper yourself... Put it near the top... On Exo, this is available as 6 links... Average value really (And I would've expected the post cost to be closer to 10!). Feel free to comment or 'spar'... I'll reply as soon as I can... I'm from singapore and i seriously find this trick very stunning.. i often use it as a finisher as eric james recommends it.. and it works wonders..
9/10 of my spectators/friends would keep their signed and fused card in their wallet.. to show it off to friends that i did a mind blowing trick that has a receipt as evidence.. i'd usually make 5-10 gimmicks at a go.. so as to filter out those half-focked ones.. where the angels head doesnt align etc.. i'll give this trick 10/10.. very clean fairly easy to perform super closing act |

I am assuming that they teach you how to make the gimmicks.

Hello There,
Just joined Exomagic forum and discovered your review of Eric James' Colour Fusion. Having recently purchased the effect (which I agree, is stunning) I too am having some difficulty in the advanced version. I've tried various 'stickies' (trying not to give away anything here) but none seem very satisfactory; some are too sticky, some not sticky enough, and they all seem to make a noise when handled as shown on the DVD. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help, and thanks also for posting the review. Best Wishes Bob |
