Ok I have to say the effect is cool but the gimmick doesnt hold up to alot of use.
Effect- a selected card by the spectator is laid face up on the deck. when the deck is held in the hands of the preformer the card levitates off of the deck. not up from the deck but out and away from the deck as it is being held sidways. The end result is the card floats away from the deck and is very visual with a good angle coverage. I do like this gimmick and the effect is pretty good but again I find that the gimmick is not very sturdy and wears out with repeated use. I would like to find a way to repair it because at about 15-20$ a pop the hovercard can get expensive lol |

I won't get too specific for fear of exposier but here is what you need. Find a laminating machine. Get an a4 sized piece of laminating pouch film and laminate something the size of a business card. All the extra "flash" that is left over after cutting out whatever you laminated is perfect for remaking a hovercard gimmick. Just grab some tape, scissors, a certain "gaff" that is required and try to match the dimensions and angles of your gimmick.

I too love this effect. I shop at a little market where we buy those cookies in a Plastic bucket type of container (Thin, clear, strong plastic!) I take the lid off and use that material and some clear tape to contruct several gimmicks. As they start to get "wobbly" I just toss them and throw a new one in.
Hope this helped without tipping anything : ) |

How often do you do the effect? Is it part of a routine? So many people I've seen do it, just say something like, 'Look at this.'
What do you use as a justification for it to 'hover'?
