Hi ALL...
I belonged to another forum ... I really liked IT but it was all about card flourishes and I not really into that. Anyways on that forum they had a lot of games and contests that really encouraged interaction of the members. While we DO HAVE a lot of that here, there is not a lot of structure to it. I thought I would try to organize some of the chaos LOL by making up a game. Here is my idea we formally team up the Newbs (students) against the Prunes (teachers) and ask different magical trivia questions of one another. We alternate who questions who and we keep score. Here is my rough idea on the layout and rules. This is just a suggestion and feedback and comments will be more then welcome. The newbs (as a group) agree on a effect they have seen or heard about and are fairly sure (RESEARCH!) is commercially available. They describe it and then ask the prunes to name it and (briefly) how it is done. Then the Prunes (as a group) describe an available effect and how it is done and the newbs have to name it. Game continues back and forth. I am trying to keep the workload required even so as not to overburden the Prunes. Some more level loading might be required. I dunno. Just a thought! No prizes - just team spirit! What do you think? -misj- |

I like it all, however with the current staff we don't have the time our power to structure this. I will encourage this fully, and love the idea (and will participate as much as I can).
Just let us know when we can start :p |

LOL
Alex, I specificity designed it so the players could run it as long as we get decent sized teams. We need at least 3 on each side. LOL Basically it is a post with some yet to be determined rules to be followed ... I still don't know if we should make it wide open or make it so that you have to volunteer and then wait till the next question. At this point I am still seeing if there is an interest and if so hammering out the rules. Plus it will probably have to go in the academy because of the reveals. Right? I want it to be fun and not a chore for anyone... Winner or Wiener? -misj- Last edited by Misjief; 02-13-2010 at 02:24 PM. Reason: Merged due to double post |

I think you have a winner with some kinks to work out.
Love the idea. I have a "Seeker Request" thread in the Academy. I made it in hopes for people to bring effects to the table that they are up in the air about so we can talk it out. This is defiantly more of a game. I like that. But right now...we have so many ideas running, I think we need to focus and finish a few of them. Your TERMS/Principles Thread. We need people on there. Have that be the start of the game. I challenge EACH and EVERYONE of you to post in that thread and help us get through that list. http://www.exomagic.com/forum/reques...heir-uses.html Yes...it is in the Academy...but I can move it into the Lounge for a few days if you guys accept my challenge. We also have mine and Sam's monthly build...that died down. We realized it was was a good idea to put it on hold for a little while until we see more and more faces. Maybe this is something we can start back up here soon. So yes...great idea...but I am not sure NOW is the time. -Jacob

Mr Hatfield!
I kind of figured the same thing... I just took the long way around in typical misjief fashion. LOL. With one leg longer then the other I corner really well, but straight lines are REALLY REALLY hard. -misj- |

First of all when I got those high heels I told you not to tell anyone. Second, if you didn't have such little feet you wouldn't have had to find someone to take your high heels. It's not my fault you didn't try the shoes on before you bought them. So don't blame me for your mistakes Jacob. I was just trying to be a nice guy taking those shoes from you.

Is this the sort of thing you are thinking about:
Effect: Magician asks a spectator to think of any card and call it out. A deck of cards is removed from its case and spread face down until one face up card is seen to be the spectator's chosen card. But that is not all. The card is turned over to reveal it has a different colored back. Magician explains that he inserted this card in the deck before his performance and controlled the spectator to think of this one card. What deck is this? --- I'll post the answer later if no ones guesses it.---

Now not only do I have mismatched legs but now I have mismatched shoes...
Great. Wonderful. Fantastic. AS IF I don't have enough problems walking.... You know that has me thinking if I wore a skirt it would be much less noticeable, and I would blend in with NORMAL people so much easier. LOL *** The sad thing is when I was younger, my sisters dressed me up as a cheerleader for Halloween and we went bar hopping. Really BAD idea! Not only did people not realize that I was a guy but I got hit on.... a lot. If I didn't say anything I could pass casual inspection - Girls caught on fairly fast but guys almost NEVER did, unless I got pissed and let the cat (only in this case it was a different animal entirely) out of the bag... which was against the rules, but I did almost punch one guy out! I finally mooned the whole bar! No craters but I do have a lot of surgery scars, so it couldn't have been pretty. I chocked it up to the sauce they were swilling at the time - but I have a thin frame and I'm not very hairy. Both my sisters are pretty cute so hanging with them didn't help, in fact I know they were egging it on & they knew to wear fake wedding rings! (Little %#*&!). One is a fashion designer (Missy disguised as a School Girl!) and the other is a cosmetologist by day / bartender by night (Melanie disguised as a 'Brownie Scout') so they did a pretty good job on my disguise. I learned a lot on that caper, namely nylons rideup on you like would NOT believe! Holy Cow! Also you want to burn those babies when you are done because the fabric doesn't breathe... And well you know .... you, ah, sweat... a lot.... when you are getting your groove on. -misj- |

Second. I have done drag before. Yep. Sure have. How far did I take this Drag? Well....I shaved my legs and armpits. Downed a wig, jean mini skirt, lady top, nylons, heels, make-up, and press on nails. I can relate to your lessons learned Misj. Nylons are not fun. Shaving your legs SUCKS. Plus I learned...I can actually walk in heels really well. ![]() -Jacob

Ok ...
I did it for Halloween ... What was your excuse? I never tried high heels. Nope. No way! Which is why my sisters went with the cheerleader outfit. My hair was long enough that I didn't have to do the wig either. At the time I don't even think I had to shave my face... As it is i shave once a week if that. I have done it more then once, though not to that extent. There is a bar down the street that once a month has 'skirt night' .... 25 cent drinks if you are wearing a skirt. I have a nice summer dress I got at the good will for the occasion. It is pretty hilarious because it was suppose to get girls into the bar but I think we scared them off. There is a pretty huge crowd of guys.. ok ... Maybe a couple dozen. But they are all rowdies so it doesn't take very many of them to tear the place up. LOL I think we have similar frames and face shapes so you probably got hit on too! Did you get lucky and find a keeper? You really didn't tell us the story, which isn't fair. -misj- |

I can send you an autographed photo of me performing the Torn And Restored Newspaper. That along with 1 dollar should buy you a cup of coffee.
Here's another simple one for you: 'A light bulb is removed from a lamp, which has been switched on and off, and can be shown to spectators to be an ordinary bulb. The magician holds the base of the bulb between his fingers and concentrates on it. Suddenly and unexpectedly the bulb explodes and shatters into little pieces.'
