Sam,

Sounds like "Hold the Mayo" by Bill Goodwin but with Kings instead of Jokers.

Misj!!! I didn't recognize you with your Avatar on! That's hilarious.

Lots of researching the 'Net. Sam gave the principal name down "Sandwich" and the cards. I started hunting through looking for tricks that matched the description. One of the links discussed Reflection by Bill Goodwin which I had remembered because I read the description for it a while back at his site. I happened to go back and re-read it and low and behold there was "Hold the Mayo". I almost didn't respond because of the Jokers. :/

You started it! Well...sort of.

Ok, I'm going to try and come up with something to post by tomorrow night. Prize may be a hand made Gaff card of your choosing, such as RED/BLUE Back, RED/RED Back, BLUE/BLUE Back, or some FACE/FACE matchup, or maybe something altogether different.

It sounds like my idea was good in theory .... that is that you learned alot in trying to track down the trick. It was a card trick and I am too far behind the lines for that yet! LOL

I do enjoy reading the answers tho...

I hope it keeps going!

I'm working on it. I haven't been able to do any new ones since my last chat with Jacob (or was that Sam?) when he suggesting letting the rubber cement dry BEFORE putting the cards together. I'm going to give that a go next.

Obviously the caveat with do it yourself as opposed to store bought is that your gaff has four layers instead of three and two of the four are the thicker inner layers of your two splits.

As for researching, I did learn a bit and it was MUCH fun tracking them down. One cool site I found in the process was this site that you (Misj) actually mentioned in another post. Pretty cool to find a brief description of an effect and where it can be located in a book. It didn't help me much but it was a resource out there I forgot.

Moving this forward. Here's my trick, and apologies but it's another card trick.

You take four queens and lay them in a row on the table face down. Three randomly selected cards are placed atop each queen so that you have four individual packets of four cards each. The spectator narrows a selection down to one of the four packets and it is found to have all four queens.

Up for grabs... as I mentioned I will make a gaff of your choosing from two playing cards. They can be RED/RED back, BLUE/BLUE back, RED/BLUE back (or the ever more difficult BLUE/RED back ) or any FACE/FACE combination you wish. Nothing much more fancier than that.

Or if you'd rather, I'll send you a pretty decent quality 1776-1976 bicentennial half dollar.

Finally, if none of that grabs you how about a pack of still sealed Bicycle Limited Edition Series #1 as pictured here.

-Stuart

Misj,

I agree with you. I hope no one feels that they MUST be able to provide a tangible reward for anyone that might answer their question correctly. I'm just in a position where I have this spare stuff and hope to give back just a little bit of what I've gotten from the community.

Please don't feel like you must continue the chain just to answer the question.

How's everyone fairing? Have we stumped the Magi? :/ Need a hint? And more importantly... Do we need a time limit? LOL. Or did Mofo kill another thread with his participation?

Please note... as of tonight my entire down stairs (office included) is now packed away until tomorrow or Wednesday night as we have carpet getting replaced. It will be at least Thursday before I can start work on any GAFFs but I have EASY access to everything else if we get an answer before then.

How do we make sure the rest of the registered users know about this thing. Should we advertise (blog?) or just let it be the Lounge's little secret?

It seems it is the regular irregulars who are playing - the only ones we are missing is Jacob and Duder! LOL

Mofo -

Do you have any idea just how many trick out there manipulate the four queens? A &*$%# Butt load! That is a TON for you unfamiliar with the metric system of measurement! Cheese & Crackers! LOL

Card Colm - Bill Simon's Sixty-Four Principle

my best shot at it so far (above).... The trick is called the four queens.

Here is a kinda cool website I found trying to solve this...
Card Trick Magic Tricks - Search

Still trying, but I betcha Harold knows it already, off the top of his head. LOL

Misj,

Lol....and ace/king sandwiches for lunch! That's exactly how I felt tracking down Sam's question. But this is a very interesting trick you found, just not the one I am looking for. I will bookmark that one for study later.

One more thing...I hit that site looking for the trick. It doesn't appear to be there. The trick IS at the following site, but only by name, creator, publication, and page. It is not described. It is also categorized incorrectly. I can't get much more vague than that.
