View the 2009 Gift guide now > ASK THE SHAMAN: Feeling like you're showing off? This is a feeling that some magicians come across and you’re feeling a bit guilty for them reacting to something that you feel is a “simple trick.” While I can’t control your emotions and your conscience, I can offer some thoughts that might help you out with these feelings. Your audiences are clearly enjoying your magic and your performances. If they are reacting as strongly as you say that they are, then you’re performing as well as they claim. Try to remember that our audiences determine how good of a performer we are. Other magicians can only offer advice to help you improve, but it’s ultimately up to the spectators. So, if your audiences are enjoying your magic, then let them. Rather than claiming that they are simple or stupid tricks anyone can figure out, perform for them and let them decide. If they enjoy your performance, then they are the ones to pass judgment on your skills, talents, and showmanship. If you feel that you do not want them to believe that what you are doing is real, then you can claim that you perform illusions that are mind-boggling and for entertainment only. You’ll have to find an introduction or response that works out for you and doesn’t ruin the experience for your audience. Once you have that, you can use it extensively as almost a disclaimer – whenever you find that the situation calls for it. I can’t really help you shed the guilt, but I can help you come up with some ideas for making yourself feel better about how you handle your performances without compromising them at the same time. Try some of these ideas out and let me know how they work out for you. We can continue to work on this until we have something that is customized for you and makes you the happiest. there was a guy (Hampson) on here last week asking about sites to buy cards from that accept paypal. The only sites I could give him were ExoMagic Dan and Dave and Ebay. We have alot of people from other countries on here all the time that ask about paypal too. I use it all the time because I won't have to put in my debit card number all the time.

Honestly, I am a little baffled why it has taken them so long to begin accepting Paypal. Especially if you are a high-traffic merchant, you can accept credit cards through an API in your site (with a 2% commission fee) and no one would ever know you took Paypal. And if you don't already know, 2% commission fee for accepting credit cards is amazing compared to Authorize.net or other large credit companies. |

Actually though it surprises me when a website does accept paypal. I don't understand why no one uses it but they don't. I love paypal. But thats just my personal opinion.

I'm not a big fan of paypal, and rarely use them. I used them to sell somthing ($700 worth of somthing) and after the person received it canceled payment. I sent proof of shipping and everything, they still took the money out!

I use Paypal for most of my Internet purchases. Paypal has been a life saver many times. There have been a few merchants who have been less that honest with their products and Paypal has intervened for me.
