Does anyone know anything about Shawn Evans and his company Mimesis
Magic? He has a number of gimmicked cards and card decks. I have bought a couple of magnetic and shimmed cards from him. The quality of the shimmed card is as good or better that the Shimmed Card 2.0. He has been very responsive to the inquiry emails I sent to him. I was interested to know if anyone else had any experience with him. Here is the website:

First look at the workings of the website leave me with the feeling that they are very unprofessional, but I have never had any dealings with them, so I don't know for sure.

I have bought 4 of his hand made gaffed cards and they are well made and so far all do what they say they will do. And he is a joy to deal with.

All his stuff that I've seen is very well made and not terribly expensive. In fact I have a card box on order with him as we speak.

When you get it, I would be interested in the quality and how well concealed the 'trap-door' is.

On a 1 - 10 scale: 9's across the board, because I rarely give 10's! My only concern is durability of the trap and the hole it fits into. One of the selling points of this box is that the cellophane is still on it, which I expect is supposed to dispel the idea of a trap door. Indeed the trap is under the cello, but the cello is also cut to match the trap and is attached to it. The edges of the trap and the hole are somewhat delicate, and herein lies my concern. As far as concealment, like any gaff of this type, it is non-examinable, but looks pretty good. All in all, a nice product, decent pricing, and with a little care should last a while.
