I'm pretty big into card flourishing, just "playing" with cards. I don't get into tricks much. Lately that's been changing a bit. On a whim, I banged out a couple of color changes without thinking much of it, but when I looked up, my brother and his fiance had been watching. I couldn't believe their looks. "How the h*ll did you do THAT?"
Later on, I was practising TnR. I didn't think I had the moves and covers down, but when I was done I got the same reaction from my wife (I didn't even know she was paying attention). Heh, funny how everybody says card tricks are boring until you baffle them with one. Yeah, so I'm thinking I might pick up a few more tricks just for grins.

I've started having fun with flourishes but I noticed that even though flourishes amaze people magic is even more amazing. I've had some very precious reactions from a waitress at a bar It would be long to describe but some things like this a priceless...First tricks I did I didnt get much reactions. I've always had better reactions from people I dont live with ... except my parents when I went home durring christmas, I dazzled them. ![]() As for the first first reactions I would say it wasnt shocks or gasps since I started doing small tricks. I got frozen and bafflement. Now I get shock screams and swears.

Man, I love the reactions magic gets. When I first got into card magic, I could only get awesome reactions from the invisible deck, but now it's great that I can get equally good reactions using a regular deck.
But get this... I was performing some crowd magic a few nights ago and these European girls were loving it, then one of them looks up at me and goes "..... Are you a WITCH?!" Me and the guys I was with (one of them filming it!) burst out laughing

I think the reactions of the spectators are the very most important things in magic. I usually perform my card tricks in school breaks with my friends as spectators. The deeper I get into my routines the more people are getting around me ^^ After a few tricks soon half of the school was standing around me. It's hard to find a point to stop, most of the time I'm stopped by the bell ^.^
Well...the reactions. Yeah. The best ones are color changings of the whole deck, even if you've already done a few tricks with a blue deck before and you switched the deck without someone having noticed it. I think the reactions are different. Sometimes there is a terrible silence, sometimes they just freak out. |
