Ridiculous explanations from specs

Has a spectator ever given a funny explanation for a trick you've done?

One time I did dime and penny for these kids and they thought that I had bounced the dime off the wall and into their pocket when they weren't looking.

Dan Harlan`s Hovercard: Magnets or threads had to be involved. Well...in that moment that was ridiculous for ME, although it`s a pretty common first guess for many tricks. One guy even grabbed the whole deck...but didn`t discover the gimmick. LOL

According to my audience I palmed a card and manage to slip it into their wallet when it was in their pants xD.

One of my friends only knows the term "double lift" in magic... so whenever I do any trick (pass, biddle, etc), he's like "YOU DID DOUBLE LIFT"... do something with coins.. "you did umm.. DOUBLE LIFT"

I have these thumb tips with lights in them, so it looks like you're grabbing little red lights out of mid air and throwing them away. Someone thought I had a helper across the room with a laser pointer, shining them on my thumbs whenever I gave him a signal, or something.

A quick answer in this venue shows how too many starting magicians over use the double lift in their acr routines. In other words... if someone says that when you are doing an ACR routine or they knew beforehand or you are not correctly doing the sleights... or BOTH! In any case I know what you might mean... I've seen some performers being called on a double lift even though there was none... and it was actually a normal turnover of a single card. Which says one thing... at some point in time they probably saw someone badly perform or worst, they saw you badly perform a double lift...

wow cornman that would get pretty technical

actually the inspiration for rocco was grabbing a laser light between the fingers... see rocco's routine of d-lite for an example... he starts by having a laser light floating on the backdrop and then pinches it...

The guy still isnt that far by saying its a laser ... after all it is a Light Emiting Diode...

I'm forgetting many of the weirdest explainations... some include heat-sensitive cards for a color changing deck...

use of a thread pull to put a card from the middle to the top

seeing their card by looking at their eyes in their retina
seeing their card by looking at the reflection in their glasses

having an ear plug and a decoy in the assistance

I was doing an erdnase color change I cleanly showed with my hand open fingers wide open then said "watch closely" and then do a real clean erdnase and someone who was watching half the time said I had a card palmed in the hand i just showed empty... (thanks for watching closely)... next time ill say watch a little earlier so it is clear that my hand is empty

Then you have to do a second erdnase to proove you have no other card in hand is that it? or how about a double color change? lol... some times...

Sometimes false explainations are what we want... for example I did acr routine in which at the end i color changed their signed card so the back was now blue instead of red and after that I wiped off the signature...

they thought exactly what i wanted them to think... except for a guy who said : he smeared the ink off the card!

its like david williamson's trick wehre he peels off the signature of a person... as if that were normal

it seems that laymen really must be prooved that a marker is a permanent marker that a card is a normal card, that a deck is a normal deck, that my hands are my real hands, that my coat is a real coat...

once the first half hour has passed can i please do my card trick?
