Ridiculous explanations from specs

i once did fraud for some ppl and they wouldnt stop buggin me for an explanation so i told them that i rubbed my feet on the carpet and built up static then bcuase theres iron in the ink on the dollar i can slide it across.. i meant it as a joke but they bought it =)

When i was performing with loops, I had one spectator thought I was using "massive stage magnets" to make her sunglasses move, It was hilarious watching them try and figure it out!

Not to be rude guys, but alot of these explanations are very close to the actual effect. You are probably not being as clean as you think you are with these tricks. For example, one of you said that while you did and ACR someone said you did a double-lift, well, no offense who-ever typed that but your and idiot. In case you didnt know, the whole ACR is based off of double and triple lifts, if you think that you did a triple lift and your spectator shouts "double-lift" (and that makes them wrong) then you are a complete idiot, because the spectator is mostly right.

Also, one of you said you had a trick where their signed card was in their wallet, but is that not concievable? If you had touched their wallet at all, (whether you did or not) in the spectators mind, you put the card in the wallet. They are not far off. Also, what time period are they talking about? They could be talking about before the trick, after the trick, or during the trick, so for all we all know, they were spot-on for how the trick is done.

I will grant "non-stupidity" to the people who get the responses to tricks when people say: "You study dark arts", "You can replicate signatures" , "You bounced the coin off the wall! (btw, I was with dabombdiggaty when that happened)" or what happened to me one time, which is totally INCONCIEVABLE: I did a signed card to pocket, and this was my response: "Simple, you have a card and shot it through a hole in the ground so it would go under-ground, up your leg and into your pocket when I wasnt looking."


So for the people who are performing ACR's and getting "Double-Lift!" responses, just simply work on your double lift, it can always be practiced.

Look no further than magicollie's entry for the "Lord of All Contests" *slaps himself for giving his contest such a stupid name*, where he puts the coins into hooks in thin air, and he spent 20 years studying...coming from somebody who looks like a teenager lol no offence magicollie!
I did Silver Dream once, and they said "duh it's in your other hand" when I showed my left empty, so I ignored them and proceeded with the both hands empty vanish, then one of them said "you stopped time, swapped the coin with a flesh coloured one, stuck it to your hand and then wiped all our minds so we forgot about it." Everybody just blankly stared at him in amazement.

I had a few ones of the mentioned above, too. I watched Control today and almost fell of my chair:

"I know how you stopped your pulse - you simply stopped breathing"
"I know how you did the balducci levitation: I saw it on TV: You've got poles in your pants with that new ink" - "What kind of ink!?" - "Ink that makes stuff transparent"

Some of these explainations need a bit of time till you realize they take it serious with them.

However - do less multilifts, they're for beginners!

I performed sinful coin thru can once, and they thought that i spit the quarter into the can when i went to drink the erupting can of beer... They coudlnt explain how i got the quarter to my mouth without ever touching it.

In other words... if someone says that when you are doing an ACR routine or they knew beforehand or you are not correctly doing the sleights... or BOTH! In any case I know what you might mean... I've seen some performers being called on a double lift even though there was none... and it was actually a normal turnover of a single card. Which says one thing... at some point in time they probably saw someone badly perform or worst, they saw you badly perform a double lift...

cameraboirzu, Necro was saying that that was his friend's explanation for everything, be it mentalism, coins, PK, etc. And he said that his friend just knew the term, not necessarily because Necro screwed up during an effect, or something. Anyways, it really doesn't matter, so...

Once when I did a simple card change, the person said I just switched the cards really fast (Which is what it's supposed to look like). But when I did the same thing without even touching the deck with the card, the spec thought I threw the card into the deck while simultaneously flicking the top card of the deck into my hand.
