This is not a review for 'The Gimmicks Lab', just a few observations.
It is a little pricey at $75.00 but there are a couple of good gimmicks and the video is done in a more straightforward fashion compared to some of his latest releases. It was enjoyable to watch and he did share some good insights for those starting out in magic. 'Infiltrator' is brilliant, yet so simple. I have already come up with a number of ways to use this gimmick. Too bad the gimmick is one-time use type gimmick. Hopefully he will sell replacement gimmicks at a reasonable price. 'Scar Tissue' is another great idea that I can see many uses for. I will try to answer any questions short of revealing the effects in this set.

On another forum I read a review and it seemed pretty darn kewl...
I'd like to hear more of your thoughts on it. So in your opinion it is well worth my hard earned 75 bucks?? -misj- |

misj- Is it worth your $75.00, probably not. The principles are as old as the hills and you probably have them in your library already. You could make most of the gimmicks yourself. The 'Infiltrator' gimmick is a little more difficult to make but I have a few ideas on how I can product enough for my needs at a reasonable cost.
The product is pricey and probably oriented towards the novice magician. The novice would glean some good psychological insight from Jay- he probably doesn't say anything that is news to you and you may even take issue with some of what he says. It is a good release compared to some of his other current releases but not solid enough for me to recommend it without any concerns.

I have considered purchasing this after new year. I think i may still get it because i have heard good reviews of it. I think some parts may be helpful to me.

Which parts piqued your interest?
There is about 30 minutes or so of theory which is a little interesting. One question I have wanted to ask him was about why he does not have any IT related effects. He made a reference on this DVD that answered the question for me. He said that ,"IT is an unreliable gimmick - it has a tendency to break." He prefers gimmicks that are "reliable." Read the project description carefully before you order it so you won't be surprised. I guess I am now talking like a 'parent' but I just do want you to be discouraged after you purchase it. As I said before, I'll be happy to discuss this project short of revealing the effects. This does have some pluses going for it- the video work is simple and straight-forward and he does give some great insight into the efects on the project, both from the performing standpoint and the theory standpoint.
