I have been working on making a ventriloquist dummy. No it is not magic per say, just my latest project. I have the head and jaw finished and will start in on the body this weekend. I have been wracking my brain for a way to tie him into my magic act. I will probably build some card reveals into his costume(s).

The dummy is my take on what would happen if Pinocchio meet a tree nymph and had a kid. The head looks like it was carved out of living wood and has a bird's nest (complete with wood pecker) for hair. I plan on taking him out on seduction safari's when I am on the prowl for the ladies. We will see how well that works out. LOL

Anyways- that is where I am at in my magical journey, I'd love to hear exactly where other people are taking it.

I am looking at eating light bulbs, razor blades and needles. I wonder if I could get through airport security with a mouthful of needles? Could you imagine setting the alarm off and then going on with the routine by pulling threaded needles out of your mouth?

Another possibility is you could be at a party and at just the 'right' time you could start pulling the threaded needles out of your mouth.

Is there a carnival show I could join?

You got me thinking Harold....

I often use a dead light bulb for a mold... so far I have used them to create potion bottles, a salt pour, crystal ball, blah blah. I was wondering if you considered cooking up some sugar glass and then using a light bulb as a mold. Actually were I to try this I'd use a beer bottle and make the glass brown or green. The color would make realistic results easier to achieve and the beer bottle shape would be easier to pull off due to the flat bottom.

I have never done it so I don't know how hard it would be to pull off. I think rather then simply try to pour the goop over a bottle I think I'd cut the top off of a bottle and use just that. Then I'd pour sheets and roll them around a bottle to create a tube using a heat gun. Cut out a bottom and apply your molded top and walla! Probably harder then that but I think it is doable and would make an awesome effect. Let me know what you think!

I've been doing some gambling, blackjack to be specific. Do some sleights I picked up and learned to love from scarne and erdnase. Not magic persay, but I still handle cards daily (and visit exomagic).

Alex, I am a BLACKJACK fiend!

I love it but don't get to play much anymore.... Maybe I should take it up again. I never won much but I didn't lose either. After all the free meals and drinks (and tee shirts, decks. blah blah blah) I got from a days entertainment the 30 to 60 bucks I won or lost didn't seem to make any real difference. It was usually a all day thing and I always got 2 maybe 3 awesome meals out of the deal - Plus all the free poison I was willing to swill. It has since gotten far more expensive (the bleepards upped the antes) to play up in the hills around my home but I wonder if I went in late if I couldn't catch a break and a good game. They just recently changed to 24 hours and the higher betting limits so I have been waiting for things to mellow out before trying it again.

Awesome to hear Misjief. I am fortunate to have a half dozen casinos within a 45min drive. All 24/7. There is one huge one out in the middle of nowhere called Four Winds. Haven't really bet much, maybe a 20 here or there. Minimums are usually 10$ for BJ.

Im still doing some card magic and have moved to street magic with tricks such as Dan Hauss' rattled which is a great effect.

We play blackjack, 5 card poker, Texas hold 'em etc in school in the mornings which is very fun, especially when a few teachers join in

In the beginning the ante was a whole buck with a max bet of five - they have since upped the max to a hundred but then it the min ante went up to five to ten as well. For a buck I could play forever and a day - I have never tried it at five but the same thirty bucks that gave me a pretty wide swing (30!) at a buck a game only allows me a six game losing streak at $5 and three at $10 so it makes a big difference. The general rule is that your bankroll should be 30 times the minimum bet- but I can't swing that at the moment hence the big stall in my play. LOL

How much do you usually take your teachers for? Do they get it back in bribes? Or maybe you intentionally lose to them and use that for your cover?

It has been so long since I attended school that I have no idea how things are done these days!

I don't perform any longer and haven't for quite some time. Mainly, I am a collector these days. Bluntly, not a lot of the new magic I see attracts me. Guess I'm stuck in the days of Dai Vernon and the like.
