The Original Tarbell Lessons In Magic Book

I see that Magic Makers, Inc. is releasing, 'The Original Tarbell Lessons In Magic Book'.

The promo information states, 'The Original Tarbell Lessons In Magic book contains 60 in depth magic lessons that are taught and illustrated to give you the largest variety of magic possible in one book!' Has anyone checked this book out? Do you know what is left out from the original multi-volume set? It might be worthwhile if you don't own the large set.

I have one on order (the deal was too good to turn down) so when I get it, I can review it.

How much is it? Do they give you a budget to spend on "Work" supplies or does this come out of your fun money? LIE if you have to to make me feel better about not being you with your awesome job! LOL

I think the book will sell for around $75. I have seen some magic dealers showing it with a list of $99 and then selling it for around $75. Books are not cheap.

The book is coming out of my own magic budget. I want to put it in my own library and not the one at the office. I prefer to have my job pay for the consumables and such.

Is this the same as the 8 volume Tarbell Course in Magic or is this different? If it is the same, but contained within one volume instead of 8, the price is amazing! If I recall correctly the 8 volume set is about $25 for each book = about $200 for the set.

From reading the product descriptions, it contains over 60 effects where the multi-volume set contains over 100. I am curious to see what they condensed/left out. It is a good deal.

Mine has not arrived yet, but when it does, I'll write a review comparing them.

It looks like the new book consists of the first 6 volumes which would be the original 60 lessons. I only have selected volumes so this is a nice idea to have them in one volume. I have a PDF of the 60 lessons but I still prefer to read from a book.

The layout is very nice as is the size of the pages. The quality of the book itself is okay. I wish the binding was better and that it had a slip cover. Other than that it is a nice package. It is a little larger in size than Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic.

If you don't have the lessons in your library, I would recommend you get this. Some of the effects may seem outdated since this was first published circa 1926 but the principles behind them are timeless.

Question: If you have all of the originals would you need this? this is nothing new correct?

This book contains 'The Original Sixty Lessons'.

If you read 'It's A Privilege' on page XI of Volume I, Louis Tannen talks about the compiling of the course into Volumes. In 1941 the course was edited and expanded upon to over 100 lessons.

The one volume book that just was reprinted is the original 60 lessons. The 8 Volumes contain the 60 lessons plus much more. The one volume edition is still a good buy but it does not contain everything the 8 volumes contain. I would estimate the single volume contains a little more than half the 8 volumes.
