On the ITV Special, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, is anyone familiar with the closing routine he did. He shuffled the deck with half the cards facing up and half facing down. After a bit of card handling, he spread the deck out the the 4 aces were face up and the rest of the cards were face down. Also the cards were in order. When and how did he switch out the decks?

Misjief,I think that trick is the same one as he performed, so that would be what Harold is looking for. At first i thought when he held the deck up to his chest it was a deck of double back cards and then i was completely wrong. That is a fantastic effect, i can't figure it out and i might just buy this one.

It is close but not the same. The technique is different. Michael has the routine for sale on his website for 27 pounds for the booklet. I'll keep looking. I believe it is a variation of an old Ed Marlo trick. I have watched the video several times to try to find the point where he switches the deck.

Bullet's after Dark by John Bannon has a similar effect called "The Bannon Triumph", probably uses the same principles.

I just received an email reply from Michael Vincent concerning this effect. I am seriously considering purchasing it from him.
I won't reveal the contents of the email at this time but I will tell you that he did, in fact, fool Penn & Teller. If I buy it, I will post an in depth review here on Exomagic. I'll also accept any donations...LOL

Harold-
There is no deck switch done in "triumphant" ... It is all done with slights. It is a neat trick but a little beyond me at the moment. I suspect your friends trick is done much the same. -misj- |

There is definitely a deck switch in the routine. Penn caught it and stated to him that he 'rang in the cooler.' In magician jargon that means he switched out the deck for another deck, usually a stacked deck. This was the case here.
From the email I received from Michael, I have a good idea how the finale was done. Oz's 'Emerging Triumph' is an interesting version of 'Triumph' that is very basic and easy to do. A stacked deck and a series of false cuts and a false riffle shuffle. And yes, there is no deck switch, however in Michael's routine there is a deck switch. I'll be watching it over and over in slow motion until I figure it our or until I break down and order it.

Really?
Penn caught him red handed switching the deck ... and he still managed to fool him? Wow! If you are slowing down and reviewing the tape, he has to be pretty smooth at it. -misj- |

During the show, Penn says he wasn't fooled. He explained some of how Michael did parts of the routine but missed the final part of the routine.
Misjief- Send me a PM and I'll explain what I mean.
