HI
I was screwing around making a couple more balls for my chops cups - different weights and sizes... Any ways I had a couple of grains of iron glued to my the back of my hand and I got close to a couple of spare rare earth magnets sitting on my desk. They 'jumped' on to the back of my hand and stuck very firmly. I could not shake it off. That really got me thinking - I am not sure how exposed PK RINGS are but, this might work a great alternative. I made a really small salt pour that if you hold to the side looks just like a ball. The idea is that I can pretend to crush the ball into dust. In between the last couple of layers of paper, I covered it in Vaseline and rolled it in the iron ferrite. Now magnets absolutely love it. I did a wand and an egg in the same manner, now I really need to get a PR ring. In the mean time I made a necklace (for hiding things behind the shoulders) and a couple of clips (for the armpits and like). I am definitely going to get some brace wax and make some "iron core magician's wax and start playing with it. It has been kinda slow around here so I thought I would share that with you. -misj- |

Been thinking about this too. What's nice is that if the ferrite is in another material, it can be very difficult to discern where the ferrite starts and the material ends. Meaning a pretty much free inspection of your stuff.

B-
Because the iron ferrite is under a couple of layers of paper - You can't tell it is there at all. However it does make a paper mache project much heavier. I can tell by the weight but I doubt most people could - as a small 'iron cored' piece is still quite light - but it has some weight where as a similar project without the iron has almost relatively no weight. If they examined both pieces - you'd probably get caught, but visually alone it is undetectable. If you did 'patches' rather then the whole thing it would drop the weight. I originality tried to put steel washers in for the magnets to grab - they don't like them as much as they do iron, and therefore couldn't hold the weight of most projects (or grab through the concealing wall!). Even though the 'iron core' is much heavier the magnets love it and will hold it up very firmly. Which is kind of paradoxical. I am using so magnets from old hard drives so they are strong as all get out! I am going to start using it for my shells so they stick together! *** I haven't tried to put it in the wax yet .... I put it in the vasaline and unless the object is a solid light color it would conceal quite well. I am thinking dollar bills (maybe coins) because it has to be light for the wax to adhere to it. Next I need to figure out how to make some pulls. ??? Which design is better? 1) Gravity - As in a fishing line from the magnet to a 'signiciant' weight hidden in your pant leg... 2) Elastic - As in elastic to the magnet to a safety pin hidden in a sleeve. ??? BTW- Am I breaking a rule? When ever I ask such a question everyone gets very hushed? I have been asking about the die box for a while now. LOL. Do people not know, (or not care) ... Or am I making a social blunder here? *Smirk* -misj- |

Actually, I'm thinking
For mixing the ferrite into. But wax would totally work too. For pulls... I suppose it would depend on the weight of the object you're vanishing. Elastic would also be faster, but not a smooth, and may make a snap noise. A gravity pull may be bulky and uncomfortable, but very smooth and silent (Unless you drop the weight on your foot! ).In response to breaking a rule, no way, man. Thinking up this stuff is great. I don't know why others are quiet, but if I don't have any experience on the subject (Such as die boxes), I don't usually go spouting advice (Since it would most likely be wrong!).
