Hi everyone! To put it simply, I'm a French guy living near Montreal. I started doing magic couple of months ago after watching one of my friend performing. It brought me back years ago, when i was a kid, watching David Copperfield and Alain Choquette!
Although I'm not very experienced in the ''art'' of magic, I joined this forum willing to learn and share my knowledge. This is very exiting to access to all those great mind, i wish we can teach each others and push back limits. À bientôt

Welcome,
As I'm from belguim and speaking 4 languages, I could help you if you don't understand something writin on here. I've been doing magic for a long while, and I'm a superpassionate, I have the luxury to practice between 5 a 9 hours a day and it helps my art a lot. Good luck in magic! Greetings, Owen Graven |

@Owen thx for the offer, I'll keep that in mind. Since people are answering me back, I think my english is not too rusty and people understand what I'm trying to say.
@Misjief Walla is not a french word, sorry, what you mean probably is "voilà" which sound almost exactly like walla. Actually, in french it would sound like "Vwala" (walla with a V at the beginning) and could be translated as "here is" as in "here is something". It could also be used at the end of an explanation but we usually say "et voilà!". In that case it would mean "and thats it!" like in "...all you have to do is grab the rabbit and pull it out of the hat, et voilà! The rabbit in the hat!" ![]() As for "presto", it mean "quick" or "hurry", but its italian. I hope it was clear enough, dont hesitate if you have other questions, Ill be glad to help you guys. Here is new one, a magic trick would be "tour de magie" in french. Have a nice day, I really enjoy talking with you guys!!

Boomie!
See you have already been helpful! Between the diff language and my dyslexia there is NO way I was going to get the spelling right! LOL I saw a really cool antique magic set on the net... It was OBVIOUSLY made in France as all the words and the like were written in french. I wanted it but couldn't pony up the cash they wanted for it. So I have been creating my own 'antique' magic kit out of paper mache. I am getting pretty good at creating the pieces and they look very genuine due to the fact that they are handcrafted. I speak about as much french as I do martian, but it adds a nice level of mystic to it. LOL But I do need a couple of other "french magic words" and the like if you are up for it ... Owen - What the heck to you do for a living that enables you to get in all practice time? I still get in a lot of time on my props and the like but I sacrifice my tv time and the like (and probably much better off for it, too!) -misj- |

@misj
Well, I'm self-employed running a little locksmith bussiness with my father, so not much to do only 2 days a week making accounts and paying bills. Doing the marketing. SO all the other day I can practice, Perform and so. I am a tv-phobe, never watch it, and never will intensively, I know some tv series but I watch them on the net in streaming. Otherwise another hobby is making paper models as you already knew, I've started up agian with it to make my magic time shorter. got sometimes a bit boring doing so much cardwork. @Boomstick, about your question in another topic, about how much languages I speak: Well I speak english, French, Dutch and german. And got some notions of japanese. Greetings, Owen graven

My Grandfather was a locksmith!
There isn't a lock made I can't pick... No not really but I am pretty good at it. LOL Wish I had a good set of picks, Grandpa's set died some time ago and I have never been able to replace it. -misj- |
