Hi,
I live in the deep south of the US. Been here about 8 years or so.
I am a psychology student and I work in public safety until I finish my degrees. I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd live in the deep south though I'm not planning to stay here. It isn't as bad as I thought it would be but just not really my cup of tea. I'm really more of a pacific northwest person I think. Most of my adult life was spent in California. I enjoy rain and snow. Really

I haven't performed on stage magic or music for over 20 years and then only as an amateur and student in high school and college.

Age~ 47

Experience with magic and level of expertise~ amateur stage performance (a long time ago) and small group though out my life.

Favorite tricks~ currently working on contact juggling and exploring various mentalism things. nothing really specific right now that isn't directly related to my major.

Other hobbies~ weaving, spinning, needlework, gardening, small scale farming, languages (primarily classical Latin and ASL right now), building and tinkering with stuff, astronomy, historical reenactment, nearly all tech stuff, most sciences. learning to hunt (bow and gun) and fish. eternally researching and grazing the net. play warcraft and guild wars. meteorology.

Favorite animal~ dogs, goats, poultry, waterfowl, various equines

Favorite pie flavor~ banana, pumpkin, and Boston cream

Favorite soda~ cream soda and root beer

Hi,

Thank you for the kind welcome.
I just got off work. Rather quiet night as calls go other than officer's checking stuff. The only 2 calls we got on my shift last night were some students duct taping another student and a homeless gentleman sleeping in a residence hall. It has been strangely quiet lately. I'd like to believe it is because the students are busy working hard on their education...but I'm not quite that naive-optimistic yet a skeptical of that scenario

Hi Alex,

Thank you and I certainly will pick their brains. I don't know enough yet to even formulate good questions of the mentalists but so glad to have the opportunity to be able to when I do Last night work was very busy so didn't have much time to graze the net. Hoping to have a more quiet night tonight with the latest storm system hitting us around 4am-ish. I am hoping it won't be too severe because I have 2 incubators full of eggs (1 with 3 week old China goose eggs and the other with less than 1 week old Pekin duck eggs). I'm hatching them for a friend as I live in a studio apt in the city and I'm pretty sure my landlord would frown on livestock <g> Losing power for a couple hours won't be a problem but more than that and I could lose them though with the geese being nearly ready to hatch they are more resilient against temperature loss. We have backup generators at work but not at my home. This storm system has been catastrophic just west of us but from the last radar of it doesn't seem as strong or organized in my area. Looks like active tornado watches just north of us.

Nice to meet you Thank you for your kind complement. I think the proliferation of mentalists is likely from the recent tv shows involving David Blaine, Chris Angel, and Darren Brown. They have certainly piqued the general public's interest in magic the last couple years. I suspect the dreary news and harder economic times world wide has also had a hand in reviving interest in magic. I had hoped that Marvel comics' work on a Doctor Strange movie would have done the same and perhaps on a greater scale but unfortunately the people in charge of that production chose to make it an animated movie and release it on DVD only. A super-hero sorcerer movie would have helped increase exposure to the magical arts as well as spur creativity and interest but not many people really are aware of the movie because of how they chose to create and distribute it. There are still plans, I understand, for a live action movie of Doctor Strange but those involved seem less motivated timing wise. Very unfortunate. Harry Potter mania still is somewhat live and kicking up interest among kids and adults. Ive seen some good fallout from Star Wars but the Jedi mentalist angle doesn't appear to have really been developed much. Might be some useful stuff there for mentalists wanting to split away from the Blaine, Angel school. I think we may see some interesting stuff still for mentalists in the future from someone taking it in a wildly different direction as interest is building still in that area.

I have tried to fix the merging of my posts 3 times now Im not sure why it is still doing it. I completely logged out during posts as well hoping that might help. Any ideas?
