I wrote a review on Penguin Magic for this. It's actually kind of awful to tell you the truth. Noisy, cheap, not something you would actually use unless you were setup in front of your webcam.

Hiya!
I have some notes for one of these I want to make.... Just haven't got there yet. I found out that you can take iron ferrite and mix it in with magicians wax. Thereby making any light object such as a dollar 'grabbable' with a magnet! Because it is a wax you can even borrow and get the dollar signed! Just apply it after the fact right under the audiences noses! As for the actual device - I haven't spent the time to devise one yet. I have made several of my wands with iron cores. Then I can take a magnet and duct tape it with in my jacket just behind the shoulder. Then I can make my wand appear and disappear fairly easily. Probably could do it with other stuff just as easily! So there you go ... A couple of ideas for you! -misj- |

I heard that the "make anything vanish" gimmick works better than the universal pull because you can make the object re-appear. Also it is quieter and can pull more objects. I haven't tried this myself but as far as I know it's a good buy. I can only find it on one site though.

If I were you I would look at Michael Weber's idea of creating improvised pulls in his great book Life Savers. Not only will you get that, but there's TONS of other great stuff in there as well.

Elastic cord , a safety pin, and a cloth bag with elastic sewn into it will make a dandy coin pull. A lot less expensive than buying one. Get creative ....go to craft stores and look around. I like Jo-Ann fabrics or Michaels. They have a great selection of stuff you can make for very little money. Who knows you may make a gimmick that you can sell to fellow magicians. Good Luck.

Like Savanna (& Harold and the rest of the peanut gallery) says...
Use one strip of thin elastic banding doubled up and tied to the safety pin Put the knots at the ends be it saftey pin or gimmick to help keep it clean. Then loop some fishing line from the elastic to your gimmick, be it a alligator clip, bucket or bag. I made a bunch of different 'ends' .... but because I simply loop one end (fishing line) through the other (elastic) I only need one or two pulls. I can switch for what ever I need. Saves room, tangles and the like. So far I have ... A magnet gimmick - done up in my patented flesh glued to match my hand. A bucket or small hank ball - again flesh glued. A leashed thumb tip A alligator clip A couple of small bags I sewed myself - use plastic strip(s) in mouths so they close. A wand or cigarette clip - a bic pen lid works great. That is all I have at the moment. -misj- |

Hi
Whats the difference between Gecko and Raven? Thanks Sareide //merged// Hi I have seen the unversal pull too. It seem simple to use. Any suggestion? I'm an apprentice and I'd like to know if this tool could trasform the trick in a fail: thats to say if it could remain blocked by the jacket. How to procede? thanks sareide Last edited by sareide; 06-12-2011 at 02:52 PM. Reason: Merged due to double post |
