i have thought about that too. like if you use alcohol to "erase" things from cards the finish goes with it and the card looks like crap so maybe this will make it shiny again in that spot. worth a shot, I think i will have to try it out now. thanks for the idea cut.

hmmm... alternative to rough spray... maybe try starch - use for paper mache. make sure that you brush it lightly and let it dry.

I try some on my bikes and I'll reply soon.

You know, if you use alcohol or whatever to erase the markings and strip the finish, I bet the surface would then be better suited to printing whatever you want and then the glossy spray would seal it and give it back somewhat of and original finish.

What a terrible waste of alchohol! Oh, you mean like rubbing alchohol? Interesting thought. I just recently started working on my on card splitting. I'll have to give this a try with a photo printer.

Let us know how it turns out. I think it might be a good way to print your own gaff cards...if it works, that is!!

Lacking any rubbing alchohol I had plenty of vodka on hand. I can now assure you, Vodka does not make for a good stripping agent unless there are women involved and you use it on them instead of the cards.

As for printing your own Gaff's it might be easier to buy a blank deck and work out a printing template. I'll have to give rubbing alchohol a try....

P.S. No women were actually harmed in the process of bringing this post to you.

That is what mine looks like. Make sure you buy the matte finish if you buy glossy it will not work. This is a much larger can of spray than the Testor's Cut mentioned and it's the same price

Or as Cut said you can find Testor's dull cote. You will find this where you would get paint for toy model cars or toy model airplanes. It is the sealer you would put on the model after you finish painting it.

OR!!! You can just go here Roughing Fluid Spray by Aldini - Supplies and pick up a few decks of cards along with the spray and have them delivered to your house and not have to worry about getting the wrong spray.

I did mention what it was used for.

I don't think I saw anyone mention the "roughing stick."
Bond Agency & The Card Collection Waxes, Roughing Fluid and Slush Powder
AKA a Rosin Stick.

You can find it here too:Roughing Stick - Adhesif (Finn Jon) [16548] - $18.00 : Stevens Magic Emporium

I tried some of my wife's nail polish removed. Dude, that stuff'll take the chrome off a trailer hitch!! It ate the card. I'll pick up some rubbing alcohol and try it.

Cut,

Make sure you get the rubbing alcohol that is 91% alcohol

The 70% stuff doesn't work. It has too much water in it.

So I take it that's why Vodka didn't work. Everclear. It's 90% and what you don't use, you can mix!

On a serious note, I have no rubbing alchohol so if you get some Cut before I do let us know how it goes. I also just ran out of red ink in the photo printer so it'll be a bit before I'm able to test printing. House full of kids and no rubbing alchohol.

Hey, i found some spray thats recommended in a german magic shop. I try to translate it with google. here is the translation: The invisible protective film on the can for many graphic and artistic works in the studio and at home. The highly transparent, easy matting film coating will not yellow and is touch-dry. Suitable for all work in chalk, pastel, red chalk, charcoal, pencil, watercolor and tempera paints, not polystyren. ... the translation is surely not 100% correct, but can you say, if such products are OK?
Thx again...
