hide post count suggestion

hey i jst wanna make a suggestion
since it's an exclsive community....
i mean it's only for 1000 people...
how about make the post count for video higher...
i mean...
it's useless to hidden link with only 5 post.......
how about raise the post count 50 a month or what.....

just a suggestion though

50 a month might be a bit too much as it is already now, most posts are anyway "hey d00d, nice upload" etc. so that would make it even worse...

as it's a closed community the people in are in and that's it, the morons will be purged as will inactives. more people get let in and at some point it will be 1000 nice magicians. but who am i to say this, i have no idea realy on how the site will be developed and managed in the future. i'm just happy to be here!

I think g0nz got the idea right ; ). That is our goal. Seems to be working so far! We have roughly 200 dedicated magicians.

But in an on topic note, as soon as we have 1000 dedicated magicians, it'll be like...whoa....(at the risk of sounding like a nerd) It would be a never ending supply of knowledge!

It's actually quite a hard dilemma...
On one hand, we possibly want more people in ExoM so that we have a larger database and community, as well as getting more USEFUL feedback for tricks and experience from members (hopefully!).
On the other hand, we want this forum to be 'better than the rest' and encourage the idea of 'good members' (e.g. contributors, donators, useful advice) rather than a bunch of people just ripping/leaching and saying "Thx!". Also, if we get too big, we might catch the eye of certain magicians who could potentially shut the site down.

The post count thingy is great, as is the legendary VIP status...
But, hopefully, people won't start threads in which they post very simplistic videos (e.g. E or Penguin stuff) for 50 or more counts... That's just ridiculous. Those kinda limits should be for crazily good videos and uploaders should perhaps take in feedback from those who also own the vids (Not like: "Hey, I own the vid too... It's only worth the min. 5 posts"). Having excessive post counts for vids might also encourage spamming, which would make it harder for moderation. It's a balance between the 'goodness' of the video and how many 'posts' it's worth. It's not like 'posts' are cash and, after all, this is a sharing community (For me, though I don't upload due to my lack of worthy purchases that aren't already on this site... I prefer offering insight into tricks and 'appropriate' feedback!)

In general, looking at the way ExoM is run, I think that Exo & the moderators pretty much keep the community in check in a great way!! What I DON'T want is a community like handlorz/superhandz in which I've heard stories of people flaming each other and having to agree with the sometimes 'iron-fisted' rulings of moderators.

All-in-all... Keep up the good work!! (I don't mean to write a review of the site... But hey... If I had to, this forum would defintely rate as a great 'magical' effect with loads of interesting subtleties... And errr... Wait... What was I posting again? )

I agree...however, we wouldnt really know what videos are 'worthy' of the higher post count, and what aren't. A decision would have to be made by moderators or Exo, and I'm sure they don't need any more work than they already have.

As for me, I keep all videos at 10.
The problem will most likely be fixed in the future when there are set 'boundaries' for how high you're hide can be.

I keep it simple, if the video is in high demand, I boost the post count up higher. If the video is garbage and not many people want it, post count remains at 5.

That's great idea, it compensates the fact that there are few videos that everybody wants.

Ahhh... But on that note, popular videos are not necessarily better. If people are just rippin' off this site, then they are unlikely to be delving deeper into the mechanics of magic... i.e. they are going for superficial tricks rather than the more well thought-out ones.

Perhaps stuff that is not just popular... But RARER would also have higher 'post costs'. I hope no one has used those words yet... Because if they haven't, I hereby PATENT it... j/k j/k

lmao, yup.

And for the more rare videos that are posted I (Bill Malone's and so on) I tend to go back and modify the post count ; )
