What is that, i'm from brazil and i don't understand what is it, please, is it a TV Show or a new Magic Trick?

Celebradabra is a new reality tv show that E is sponsoring. They will take actors and teach them magic tricks and have them perform. Then will be eliminated from competition as the show progresses.

It is not a trick, it is a TV show that I hope goes over better than Phenom did on NBC. I personally like E and I wish nothing but the best for them.

I think this is going to be an awesome show!!! Although, I hope they go easy on the reality show stlye stuff!!!

I think its a bad idea. Needless to say E will be flashing their logo throughout the whole show and they're going to be revealing tricks...otherwise how would you see the celebrities practicing? And E will be revealeing all the tricks that they are doing on their website.

And thats exposure...and exposure is bad....

So how can we fight this? A threatening email that threatens to Boycott
them...

No serously, this will do what criss angel did, a lot of unwanted attention onto the magic community. We have too many more magicians just because of him...not that thats bad...but a lot of people are just becoming magicians just to know the secrets...

Now E will be a mainstream company and people will know all of the secrets...putting magicians out of business....

I have to disagree with it being a bad idea. E is out to make money, that is obvious by charging what they charge. If anything it is a marketing ploy to say come to our site to buy our ticks.

It would be a dumb move to be showing the gimmicks and revealing tricks. However, I don't think they would be any more revealing than going on Youtube and typing in Blaine Revealed or searching on Ebay to find everyone and there mother trying to sell a $4.99 .pdf on "Street Magic".

A small (very small) percentage of the population actually wants to know how magic works, most people just want to be entertained. I mean when you are performing a card trick, not very many (other than the obnoxious 12 yr old or drunk guy) want to scream to everybody how it is done.

If people would keep it in the realm of entertainment and not summoning the demons of hell to change the 8 of clubs into the Jack of spades magic on TV would be a lot better. Phenom killed it for me on the first episode when the best mentalism performance of the night was ripped by Angel and Geller saying it he was just using parlour magic. BUT THAT'S WHAT IT ALL WAS.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that this will be good, BUT the first episode they bring out Flavor Flav or Bret Michaels I will be the first in line to write that e-mail to Brad Christian himself.

I know...but, we as magicians know about E's marketing strategy and we know to wait until it gets a review before buying it, because we are not as naive because we are familiar with their strategy.

However, a normal Joe Schmoe would go on their website, get blown away and purchase EVERYTHING! See what i'm saying? Lets face it E is really good at selling things....once everyone knows E, then everyone will be a magician...which is bad...

I have to say, im not one to complain much about anything, but i think that the idea of this show is complete and absolute utter BULL-DOODOO.

magic is starting to become a bit TOO commercial. *********** makes me sick .they preach and rant on their site forums " hit the books, study, dont try tricks until you ve been performing them for years, you shouldnt be performing after only a few months" blah blah freakin blah...but then...oh but then..what do they do?? Makeup eyeliner no skill having greedy ass brad christian decides..."lets just make/sponser a tv show and teach random freakin idiots who have no love, passion, interest or idea about magic, teach them great effects that they didnt have to do one solitary second of research or digging through books to find, give them a team of coaches to make them look like pros, show it as a BS tv show, and get all the stupid ass people to think "hey, if they taught those celebrities to be that good, then im going to go to their website and spend all the money my parents get me every week on magic that will make me look like a pro in only a matter of weeks"! COMPLETE FREAKIN HYPOCRISY, and i hope it somehow backfires in their face.

now every dumb ass who watches the show is gonna think that magic is just something you dont have to put any dedication or work into. it makes me sick. all the hundreds of hours i spend going through books, videos, forums, and discussions just to find effects. all the time i spend practicing effects,the MONEY i spend on books and cards and material (no, this site isnt my main source of material) flourishing my ass off, and doing street magic every chance i get to make myself better. but now a bunch of jackass celebrities who never gave a shit about our art of magic get a team of coaches and teachers and a chance on NATIONAL FREAKIN TV to "appear" to be pros. Elllusionist is the worst thing that could have happened to magic. Yes, they have put out some good effects in the past, but lately, they ve fallen behind, and they dont care what it takes to get back to the top. its no wonder all their talent went to Theory11. **end of rant**

I agree in this fact, that will damage magic industy. And isn't it a bad example, I mean teaching someone a magic trick without putting enough practice in it don't show how much work learning a trick actually is ?

AGREED!!!!

I spend hours upon hours upon hours practicing, I think if Criss angel hadn't gotten a show this wouldnt have happened.

I actually like T11, they have good people behind them...and it kind of seems like they actually support you...if that makes sense?

But penguin is the best by far...

I saw a preview of the show today. It didn't have anything about E in the commercial, and from what else I read they are going to be holding parts of it in the Magic Castle.

I think the Magic Castle has more integrity in magic circles than E, T11, and any other magic store put together.

With the history of magic shows or series tanking on mainstream TV this show might go the same way, but I am holding to some glimmer of hope that this may be good.

What's interesting about this is that they're taking washed up stars from the past and using them in this show. This is exactly like any other reality show ex. Dancing With The Stars, etc. The only thing different about this is that they're using magic as a new twist and E is using this for advertising, I myself am kind of dissapointed, I'm glad that there is going to be a new show but sad at how E wants to use this just to make money in my point of view.

I'm kinda mad at E for doing this. I mean, not because people will buy E's products, but say you are doing a trick for a large crowd, and someone blurts out hey you got that at *********** dot com! Then everybody that you were performing too can just go online and buy it. Just my opinion.
