Seriously, for me, I think that this is a good thing.
Why? Well... If you hear anyone say it's an amazing show, and the actors are good at magic, then you know that you prolly will have something from T11 or Penguin that's, like, 20 times better. Like DM's Irreversible. Just say something along the lines of "Oh, you saw the invisible deck trick? Yeah, that one uses a gimmick." As this is happening, hand out your cards for inspection (Keeping the top two cards in your pocket, or palmed. Take the cards back, say "So you see, it's better when it doesn't use a gimmick" and dive into the routine. If they ask how, tell them you did it by not doing what happened on the show, that you actually practiced for weeks, maybe months! (Though if it took you a couple months to master Irreversible...

)
So.... I dunno.
As for the secret society thing, we're in one already. Exomagic, with closed registration!
